Responsibilities
- Monitor academic progress of current students, review their course enrollments and work with students to ensure that all prerequisites have been met. Identify students not meeting prerequisite requirements and communicate with them to initiate the drop process. Manage all student force registration requests. Interact with students through posted office hours and email. Communicate confidentially with students when constraints prevent them from securing desired classes due to financial services check stops, credit hour limits, etc.
Assign faculty advisor to each undergraduate major who has reached the junior level of degree progression and update annually until student completes bachelor’s degree. - Create, review, and edit departmental Undergraduate Course Catalog listings. Process new-course proposals. Secure course textbooks, desk copies, and companion solution manuals as appropriate. Respond to schedule all undergraduate courses during Fall, Spring, Summer and Winter sessions to ensure that required courses are offered as required to meet degree requirements.
- Collect information to facilitate the advisement process by generating and evaluating reports for faculty and administration using UB information systems. Assist the Directors(s) of Undergraduate Studies in the collection, analysis and reporting of learning outcomes assessment data as required by ABET. Create and administer student, alumni and employer surveys, especially those related to ABET objectives.
- Assist in the administration, preparation and submission of the LSAMP grants.
- Make students aware of internship opportunities and coordinate internship opportunities with SEAS Dean’s Office. Make students aware of career opportunities (job opportunities) and coordinate with UB Career Services. Make students aware of Study Abroad opportunities.
- Assist in organization and presentation of departmental portion of Orientation, Open houses, Preview Day and Commencement.
