Job Overview

Join SUNY Erie as a Mechatronics Instructor through the PRODiG+ CC program, a SUNY initiative advancing student success, workforce development, and faculty excellence. This role is ideal for industry professionals with strong hands‑on technical experience who are ready to bring real‑world knowledge into the classroom. No prior teaching experience is required. Distinguishing

Features of the Class

Faculty teach department courses and evaluate student performance pursuant to guidelines set by the department and the College. Faculty report to the Department Chair within the Academic Unit. Faculty are responsible for preparing lessons and student learning activities. Faculty must maintain accurate records on students and submit pertinent data to the department and/or the College.

  • Provides classroom and laboratory instruction in industrial maintenance, particularly in robotics and instrumentation, mechanics, fluid power, electricity, and other assigned courses
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Good knowledge of field of specialization; knowledge of or experience in implementing a variety of teaching strategies; awareness of the value of technology as a tool for teaching; experience with computerized student record management; ability to develop educational programs; ability to teach effectively at the college level; initiative and resourcefulness; industrious and dependable; ability to get along well with others; effective communication skills;

experience teaching a diverse student body; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
  • Minimum of 5+ year's industrial experience is required.
