Mission Statement

The Nativity Miguel Middle School of Buffalo () is an independent, Catholic middle school (grades 5-8) that provides a quality, scholarship-supported education to underserved students of all faiths. Standing arm‑in‑arm with our families, Nativity Miguel makes a 12‑year commitment to our students, starting in middle school and continuing through high school and college. Drawing from four pillars – Courage, Compassion, Community, and Contemplation – a Nativity Miguel education promotes academic, spiritual, social‑emotional, and physical growth, so that our students are inspired to become men and women for others.

Nativity Miguel Middle School (NMMS) seeks a dedicated and empathetic educator to serve as the Academic Intervention Services Tutor for the  school year. This Instructor is responsible for designing and implementing specific strategies used to promote growth in all students identified for intervention support – specifically those students in the lower 10% percentile of academic achievement for their grade level.

This teacher will be responsible for providing small group and 1:1 tutoring for students in grades 5‑8 for both the boys and girls divisions  person accepting this position works with the Principal and Assistant Principal for Academics to identify students in need of intervention services and develops a schedule for providing scaffolded support and interventions. Generally, they are asked to be on campus during Extended Day school hours (1:00 – 4:00 pm) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

* The person accepting this position will be an employee of 22nd Century Technologies, Inc. () and will serve as an independent contractor for Nativity Miguel Middle School of Buffalo.

• Demonstrate energy and enthusiasm for working with students and families from underserved backgrounds.
• Collaborate with teachers, the school principal, and student support team to identify the acute needs of individual students.
• Apply appropriate intervention strategies for students identified as requiring support for mathematics, reading, and ELA learning and development.
• Deploy instructional strategies and approaches which reflect best practices for engaging students in sustained inquiry.
• Use assessment data, including MAP and NYS testing, to inform instructional practices and planning.
• Provide input to instructional leadership for the development of student IEPs.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or actively working toward completion of a degree) required.
• Certification for middle school mathematics or ELA instruction preferred, but not required.
• Special education expertise and experience highly desirable.
• Passionate about supporting student growth in a faith‑based, urban education setting.
• Strong skill set utilizing appropriate educational technologies, including Google Workspace for Education, Smartboards, and Chromebooks.
