Overview
Anticipated Openings:
Provides enrichment, developmental and remedial reading/mathematics that integrates skills across the curriculum using evidence-based reading instructional practices to improve reading achievement at the school.
Reading Teacher
Responsibilities- Assist classroom teachers by providing additional materials and/or strategies for students identified as needing additional instruction
- Coordinate reading instruction with classroom teachers and school personnel to meet individual student needs
- Monitor student progress with classroom teachers
- Administer diagnostic informal inventories and individual tests to ensure appropriate instructional and skill levels
- Develop strategies to prepare students for school-wide or state assessments
- Analyze reading/mathematics assessment data to make recommendations for instruction and re-teaching
- Assist teachers in formulating flexible needs groups
- Teach remedial reading and targeted instruction for individuals, groups and whole classrooms
- Orient new teachers to the school reading program
- Demonstrate and use appropriate software in the delivery of reading/mathematics instruction
- Stay up-to-date with current trends and issues in the teaching of reading
- Apply recent research and theory to practice in all reading and language arts programs for refinement of instruction

Qualifications:
Licenses and Other Requirements - Highly qualified according to NCLB guidelines
- Credential:
Reading - NYS Certificate in Reading/Literacy or related concentration or training in scientifically based reading research
- Location:
Itinerant Location – 154 South Ogden Street, Buffalo NY 14210 - Salary:
From 43430.00 to 81367.14 - Salary Competitive: Y
