Faculty – Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Program
With One-Year Program Director Appointment During Program Launch
The School of Nursing at D'Youville University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) program. This is a faculty appointment with teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities consistent with the mission of the University and the School of Nursing and AAUP Collective Bargaining Agreement. In addition to regular faculty duties, the selected candidate will serve as Program Director during the first year of program implementation.
In this initial phase, the faculty member will provide leadership in program launch, regulatory alignment, curriculum finalization, and operational readiness. Following the first year, the position of program director will be reviewed for potential continuation, based on institutional need.
- Teach graduate-level AGACNP didactic and/or clinical courses.
- Contribute to curriculum development, evaluation, and revision.
- Engage in student advisement and mentorship.
- Participate in faculty governance, committee service, and accreditation activities.
- Maintain active clinical practice as appropriate to role.
- Engage in scholarship and professional service consistent with faculty rank.
- Ensure curriculum alignment with:
- AACN Essentials
- National certification standards
- State Board of Nursing requirements
- CCNE accreditation standards
- Develop program policies, student handbooks, and progression standards.
- Coordinate course sequencing and faculty assignments.
- Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure successful program rollout.
- Prepare documentation required for state and accreditation compliance.
- Ensure adjunct faculty qualifications meet certification and accreditation standards.
- Establish data collection processes for program evaluation and outcomes tracking.
- Collaborate with clinical coordinator to secure appropriate acute care placements.
- Develop relationships with healthcare systems and clinical partners.
- Ensure clinical experiences meet acute care competency standards.
- Participate in admissions review.
- Support onboarding of the inaugural cohort.
- Monitor student progression and implement early support systems.
- Current, unencumbered RN license (New York State or eligibility).
- Board certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of three years of acute care clinical experience.
- Graduate-level teaching experience.
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards for APRN education.
- Doctoral degree in Nursing (DNP or PhD) or related field.
- Experience in program development or new program launch.
- Experience with CCNE accreditation processes.
- Leadership or administrative experience in nursing education.
- Experience in online or hybrid graduate instruction.
- Evidence of scholarship and professional engagement.
This is a 10-month, non-tenure earning faculty appointment. Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A course release or stipend may be provided during the first year in recognition of program director responsibilities.
