Job Overview
Maryvale Academy is seeking a Long Term Substitute Teacher to Teach High School ELA for 8:1:1 Regents program at Maryvale Academy.
Job Responsibilities Provide instruction in appropriate academic areaProvide remediation as necessaryPrepare lesson plans and make optimum use of class time to meet stated objectivesEvaluate each pupil's performance, knowledge, and skills in academic area of responsibilityIdentify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve behavioral and learning problemsParticipate in the development, implementation and progress monitoring of student IEPs as assignedMeet with students in small group setting to discuss school, social and personal concernsCommunicate with parents on individual pupil progress or other areas of concernJoin with other staff members in meeting with parents and students at regularly scheduled grade reporting or other relevant meetingsMaintain accurate and complete student recordsGuide pupils in selection and performance of appropriate activitiesAid in establishing and maintaining standards of pupil conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environmentProvide encouragement for continuation of formal education and assistance in employment awareness skillsSupervise pupils in/out of classroom program related activities during the dayAssist in the storage, maintenance and use of materials and propertyRequisition books, instructional aids, equipment, tools materials, supplies as requiredAttend faculty meetings and participate in advisory committee meetings as requestedMaintain professional growth by participating in workshops, conferences, and advanced coursework as appropriateParticipate in planning and developing Program goals, objectives, curricula, and methods as requestedComplete all required paperworkQualifications
- Must hold any valid NYS Teaching Certification
- Experience in Special Education preferred
