Qualifications:
The candidate must be a NYS-certified teacher. Preference will be given to candidates currently employed in the Buffalo Public Schools with proven coaching experience in instructional technology and a minimum of five years of successful classroom and/or coaching experience in an urban school district. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with all district stakeholders.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong collaborative, team-oriented, and flexible approach to partnered work.
Experience:
In evaluating each candidate's qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate's coursework and experiences in instructional technology, curriculum design, digital environments and creation of content for online learning. Knowledge of the New York State Common Core Standards and curricula, assessments, data-driven instruction, Special Education, English Language Learners (ELL), ISTE Standards, NYS CS & DF Standards, and 21st Century Skills will also be considered in evaluating each candidate's qualifications.
The candidate should also possess:
- Knowledge of current educational technology initiatives including 1:1 computing, distance learning, flipped classrooms, digital citizenship, digital literacy, and coding
- Thorough knowledge of various technology integration frameworks including SAMR and TPACK
- Facility in the use of BPS Instructional Technology resources including software, hardware, web resources, and peripheral devices
- Understanding of the appropriate uses of learning management systems and social media in K-12 education
- Deep understanding of ways instructional technology can support information literacy skills and student learning, especially in relation to the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS)
- Knowledge and understanding of the NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards
- Thorough knowledge of BPS curriculum and instructional models
- Knowledge and facility in the use of multiple pedagogical techniques for addressing the needs of various learners, including Special Education Students and ELLs
- Proven ability to create units of study to foster differentiation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving
- Demonstrable history of designing and executing meaningful technology integration experiences that align with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards with CCLS and BPS curriculum at various grade levels
- Commitment to following and enforcing BPS, Federal, and State policies, procedures, and regulations as they relate to Instructional Technology
- Knowledge and experience in the use of multiple staff development models and approaches
- Experience in planning, leading, and facilitating staff development opportunities with a variety of stakeholders
- Working knowledge of DTSDE, NYSUT Rubric, and the APPR Process, and how the use of technology factors into each
- Working knowledge of Professional Growth System (PGS), Infinite Campus, eDoctrina, and other technology-based systems used by the Buffalo Public Schools.
Duties:
- Co-teaching to provide support and modeling of various technology integration strategies
- Providing coaching for staff on various pedagogical methods for using technology to support instructional goals and academic achievement
- Assisting staff in selecting the best technologies to use in meeting instructional needs of students
- Provide support to district personnel utilizing technology for remote instruction
- Providing feedback to individual teachers on their efforts to implement curriculum aligned to Common Core Learning Standards, RTI, data-driven instruction using a process that includes modeling, observing, and reflection.
- Providing instruction to students in the area(s) of digital literacy, digital citizenship, and coding
- Providing professional development on all facets of district instructional technology during the school day, curricular/common planning time meetings, when available after school, and on Saturdays
- Collaboration with district administrators, building administrators, district, and building coaches in the planning for and facilitation of district and school-based meetings.
