School Monitor
Full time, 10 Month position/7.75 hrs. per day
The work involves performing non-teaching duties in overseeing student activities during regular school session and after hours in a suburban school district. This is work of ordinary difficulty, involving the responsibility of assisting teachers and administrators by performing assigned routine tasks, including the supervision and care of children. The incumbent must be firm, but courteous and congenial in exercising their influence on students.
Since there are definite limits on the type and complexities of assignments, the class of school monitor differs in that respect from Teacher Aide, which usually involves duties of greater difficulty, generally requiring specific skills or abilities. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a principal, teacher or school administrator. Does related work as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong inter-personal skills;
- A demonstrated ability to connect with school-age students;
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a supervisory team;
- Escorting students;
- Supervising hallways;
- Locker room supervision;
- Manning entrance doors; and
- Other duties as assigned.
