D’Youville’s Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our faculty in a part‑time capacity, to provide leadership in teaching, service, and scholarly activity. Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Faculty rank will be commensurate with education and qualifications.
ResponsibilitiesFaculty members are responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs within a shared governance setting. Teaching includes a variety of active strategies—lecture, lab/clinical, online, and hybrid—to meet diverse student learning styles. The role supports the Boyer model of scholarship (teaching, discovery, application, implementation, engagement). Service activities include office hours, meetings of Nursing teams and University Assembly, mentoring students, and community engagement.
Teaching commitments are limited to 15–18 credit hours per academic year (Spring/Fall) with up to 9 credits during the summer session.
- Education: (Preferred) Earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Master’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program. Unencumbered RN license and APRN license with national certification in AGACNP (or eligibility in New York).
- Experience: (Preferred) Three to five years in higher‑education nursing with a record of teaching, service, and research.

- Engaged in professional development to maintain current clinical practice.

- Expertise in a nursing discipline with innovative pedagogy.
- Collaborative teamwork skills.
- Effective instruction across diverse programs, including competency‑based design.
- Contribution to program development, implementation, and evaluation in the School of Nursing.
- Assistance with accreditation activities.
- Active membership and leadership roles in School of Nursing and D’Youville committees.
- Physical ability to sit/stand for extended periods and operate computer and telephone.
- Light to moderate lifting or moving of equipment.
- Maintain professional competence and certification in specialty area (if applicable).
- Advising and mentoring of nursing students.
- Hold office hours as mandated.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, administrators, staff, the Dean, leadership team, and the broader community.
- Participation in strategic planning initiatives to build programs, resources, and innovative opportunities.
