The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, seeks highly motivated, transformational leaders for the position of Principal Coach. The Principal Coach, during the school year, will assist with principal leadership development, instructional program improvement, modeling effective administrative techniques, and proper implementation of District policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONSCandidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent teacher’s certificate and a New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), and/or School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate.
EXPERIENCECandidates must be a current BCSA Principal or Central Office Administrator with a minimum of five years of administrative experience and must be tenured in their current position, or are retired BCSA Principals or Central Office Administrators, who had a minimum of five years administrative experience and held tenure in their position at the time of retirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Under the direction of the Associate Superintendents of School Leadership, coach elementary, middle, and secondary principals before and after regular work hours.
- Provide leadership coaching to principals of CSI, TSI, and LSI schools with alignment to the District’s New Educational Bargain, 8 hours per month. Hours will include face-to-face meetings supported by phone conferences and emails.
- Adhere to the coaching model, anchored in competencies, and oriented toward building independence on the part of the principal.
- Be required to attend all scheduled meetings with the Associate Superintendents of School Leadership and submit all required documents per established parameters.
- Ensure coaching is informed by priorities and accountability measures of the District and New York State.
- Ensure a safe place is created between the coach and the principal which lends itself to vulnerability and encourages authentic feedback.
- Establish clear expectations regarding the balance of the coach/principal relationship which supports principals constructing their knowledge, engaging in their own learning-based needs in their school, drawing out the coach’s expertise, leveraging learning from within principals, and using knowledge of adult learning to inform coaching.
- Continuously diagnose the needs of the school and principal while anchoring diagnosis in goals and competencies.
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
