Science Teacher; Middle School

This is a 7th Grade Science Teacher position at REACH Academy Charter School.

Our school days run 6:50 AM – 2:30 PM (one day per week until 4:00 PM for planning). REACH has a family‑like atmosphere, celebrating events together and offering lunches or tokens of appreciation to staff.

• Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety.
• Execute daily lesson plans for all assigned blocks.
• Implement all REACH routines and procedures with fidelity.
• Submit lesson and unit plans on time.
• Teach scholars according to the curriculum developed by REACH Academy Charter School.
• Participate in professional development, coaching sessions, and weekly team planning.
• Incorporate feedback from coaches promptly.
• Analyze scholar data and engage in self‑reflection on practices.
• Prepare scholars for the NYS Science exam.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

It is preferred but not required that teachers hold a NYS professional teaching certificate in their subject area or be eligible for reciprocity. Preferred qualifications include:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in the subject area to be taught; master’s degree preferred.
• Proven track‑record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability.
• Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School’s core beliefs and philosophy.
• Valid New York State certification (exceptions may be made by the Head of School in compliance with applicable laws).

The salary follows REACH Academy Charter School’s step scale:
Step 1 starts at $45,000 and Step 11 at $65,830. A valid teaching certificate is required to start on the salary steps or to be working toward completion of certification. Benefits commence after 40 school days of teaching.
