Position Summary: The Academic Interventionist supports students in developing essential literacy skills through targeted instruction and intervention. This educator works closely with students who are struggling with reading, providing personalized strategies, resources, and support. Responsibilities include assessing literacy skills, designing individualized learning plans based on skill needs, delivering small-group or one-on-one instruction, and tracking student progress. The ultimate goal is to ensure all students make meaningful academic growth in reading.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and analyze academic data to assess students' reading abilities and identify those in need of additional support in alignment with the School's MTSS framework
- Identify and/or design and implement intervention programs tailored to individual student needs
- Provide targeted instruction in one-on-one and small group settings, including specialized reading programs
- Monitor student progress using data, and adjust interventions accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and families to support student achievement through differentiated instruction and tiered supports
- Communicate regularly/daily with teachers and parents to provide updates on progress
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices
- Work hours:
7:45 AM - 3:45 PM - Attend weekly staff meetings on Wednesdays until 4:45 PM
- Attend and participate in all school-wide professional development sessions and apply learned strategies
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Follow classroom and school-wide schedules established by the Leadership Team
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and community engagements
- Implement and support school-wide behavior expectations
- Comply with all expectations outlined in the KCCS Employee and Student/Parent Handbook
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment
- Participate in 8 days of pre-service training prior to the start of each school year
- Maintain documentation and artifacts aligned with the KCCS accountability plan
- Undergo annual performance reviews and be held accountable for student achievement outcomes
- Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., arrival/dismissal, coverage, lunch duty, classroom coverage, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience as an Academic Interventionist or in a similar instructional role
- Deep understanding of effective reading strategies and intervention programs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Master's degree in Education
- Valid reading certification required
Experience in an urban setting preferred.
