Physical Education Teacher

Dates of Appointment:
September 1, 2026 - January 29, 2027

Qualifications:

• Current NYS certification in Physical Education
• Current NYS certification in Health

Essential Core Characteristics:

• Possesses broad subject-area knowledge of physical education curriculum, skill-based teaching strategies and assessment
• Possesses strong communication skills to successfully build partnerships with parents, students, and colleagues
• Demonstrated evidence to work with students of all ability levels, differentiate instruction, and use a variety of teaching techniques
• Possesses strong, positive behavior management skills
• Demonstrated evidence of being highly organized
• Demonstrated flexibility in teaching situations
• Possesses a sensitivity to non-academic student issues
• Demonstrated proficiency in meeting all school routines in a responsible and efficient manner
• Enjoys working with students with disabilities, cognitive deficits, health, physical and medical needs, and/or multiple impairments
• Possesses creative problem-solving skills
• Demonstrates willingness to contribute to the overall function and well-being of the department and the school
• Expertise in health-related fitness concepts and fitness assessment
• Demonstrated ability to help students create an individualized fitness plan
• Familiar with various forms of authentic physical education assessments
• Demonstrated ability to openly communicate with parents regarding students' progress
• Certified in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Training

Annual Salary: $44,840 - $53,700 (prorated as necessary) Per WTA Contract
