Senior Academic Advisor

University at Buffalo is hiring a Senior Academic Advisor. The role involves providing academic advising to undergraduate students, assisting with academic planning and course selection, and serving as a liaison between the advisement office and College of Arts and Sciences departments. The advisor will also develop outreach and retention programs, track student degree progress, teach workshops on academic success, and represent the advisement office in campus initiatives.

• Provide academic advisement through appointments, walk‑ins, and remote communication methods.
• Collaborate with Directors of Undergraduate Studies, faculty, and staff advisors to ensure consistent advisement across the College of Arts and Sciences.
• Develop and implement outreach and retention programs targeting diverse student populations.
• Manage documentation and assessment of advisement interactions and student degree progress.
• Instruct Academic Success workshops and presentations to new students.
• Hold a Master's degree; preferred an advanced degree related to higher education or student services.
• One to three years of experience in academic advising or related university support roles.
• Strong understanding of student development theory, academic policies, and needs of diverse student populations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Salary starting at $62,600 annually; full-time position under the State employer classification.
