The social work practice community at The University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY) seeks individuals with experience and knowledge of social work practice who can connect the School’s curriculum with skills and practice knowledge gained in student practicums. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Practicum Education Department to ensure quality practicum experiences that enable students to meet required competencies and adhere to accreditation standards.

• Provide a minimum of one hour per week of individual supervision to the MSW intern, including ongoing evaluation of their progress.
• Participate with the on‑site task supervisor in interviewing student interns for the practicum prior to the start of the actual practicum.
• Actively coordinate and work with the on‑site task supervisor to provide appropriate learning experiences for the interns.
• Attend an orientation session provided by the School (required for all new practicum educators).
• Provide the student with an orientation to the agency, including information on safety protocol, HIPAA requirements, or other regulations specific to practicum site.

• Review and provide input to students and practicum educators regarding the learning contract.
• Make a minimum of one practicum visit during the fall semester and one during the spring semester for each assigned student. Visits should include a three‑way meeting with the student and practicum educator at the practicum site.
• Be available to problem‑solve issues with the student and/or practicum educator via phone or through additional practicum visits as needed; document significant problems and the recommendations made to address them.
• Review the Practicum Performance Evaluation Form completed by the practicum educator at mid‑placement and at the end of the student’s placement.

• Must be licensed MSW.
• Must have two or more years of relevant social work experience.

• Prior experience supervising social work students preferred.
