Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, professional Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Nurse Instructor for our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming. This role blends clinical expertise with instructional leadership, preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate is a collaborative educator committed to student success, continuous professional growth, and maintaining high standards of clinical professionalism.

The Nurse Instructor will provide classroom instruction, supervise and monitor clinical skill development, maintain student documentation aligned with NYSED requirements, and collaborate closely with the Director of CTE and school administration to ensure program quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Leadership & Classroom Responsibilities
  • Develop and submit weekly lesson plans aligned to NYSED standards and program competencies.
  • Deliver engaging classroom instruction utilizing modern instructional technology and evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Integrate nursing concepts with real-world healthcare applications and interdisciplinary academic content.
  • Teach additional CTE-related courses as needed within the program.
  • Maintain professional responsibilities during absences by providing substitute lesson plans, assignments, and instructional directions as well as collaborate with other PLTs monthly to incorporate healthcare practices in lessons and classrooms.
Classroom Management & Student Accountability
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and professional learning environment consistent with healthcare industry expectations.
  • Input and maintain accurate student grades in a timely manner.
  • Monitor student coursework, participation, attendance, and classroom performance.
  • Make and document parent/guardian phone calls regarding attendance concerns, academic progress, behavior, and student interventions.
  • Maintain communication logs documenting all parent and stakeholder interactions.
  • Participate in classroom walkthroughs, observations, and formal performance evaluations.
Student Assessment, Clinical Skills & Documentation
  • Maintain a clinical skills practice log for each student as part of ongoing formative assessment and competency tracking.
  • Provide students with constructive and meaningful feedback regarding clinical performance and classroom assignments.
  • Monitor student mastery of required nurse aide competencies and clinical proficiencies.
Clinical Hours & Certification Compliance
  • Maintain accurate student clinical hours logs and required certification documentation.
  • Ensure all student records remain compliant with NYSED CTE Nurse Aide Program requirements.
  • Complete employability profiles and required program documentation for students participating in clinical experiences in addition to proper documentation of NAPT required skills performance checklist.
Progress Monitoring
  • Provide regular updates regarding student academic performance, clinical progress, employability readiness, and intervention needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify student support needs and strategies for success.
Program Operations & Collaboration
  • Take inventory of program supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining equipment and materials for the Nurse Assist and LPN programs.
  • Support program growth, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Cultivate positive and supportive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Work collaboratively with program stakeholders to improve program effectiveness and student outcomes.
Parent & Family Communication
  • Host meetings with parents/guardians of students enrolled in the program.
  • Communicate attendance concerns and academic or behavioral issues promptly with families and administration.
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with all stakeholders.
Professional Credential
  • Current New York State Professional Registered Nurse License and Registration.
  • License number and expiration date must be provided and maintained in active status.
Professional Work Experience
  • Required:

    Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with 2+ years of nursing experience.
