POSITION: K-4 Literacy Interventionist

REPORTS TO:

K-4 Building Principal and/or Instructional Coach

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: 10 Month/ Exempt

Position Summary

Our K-4 Literacy Interventionists are highly-qualified educators who provide intensive literacy support to students requiring additional intervention while strengthening Tier I classroom instruction through collaboration and coaching.

Our Literacy Interventionists:

  • Strengthen our school community by investing students and families in our shared values of Perseverance, Integrity, Responsibility, and Respect.
  • Create and maintain physically and emotionally safe learning environments that support student success through restorative practices and social-emotional learning.
  • Deliver high-quality, research-based literacy interventions to individual students and small groups based on assessment data and student need.
  • Utilize assessment data, progress monitoring, and Data-Driven Instruction (DDI) protocols to identify student needs, monitor intervention effectiveness, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized intervention plans aligned to the school's RtI/MTSS framework.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, special education staff, and administrators to ensure interventions are aligned with core classroom instruction.
  • Provide push-in and pull-out intervention services designed to improve foundational literacy skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, reading, and writing.
  • Model effective literacy instruction and support teachers through coaching, collaborative planning, and professional learning opportunities focused on Readers Workshop and Writers Workshop.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, intervention services, and assessment results.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and intervention goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in grade-level meetings, intervention team meetings, professional development, and coaching sessions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen literacy instruction across the K-4 program.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Tapestry Charter School's mission, vision, values, policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support students, staff, and the overall success of the school.

  • Extensive knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and intervention practices.
  • Experience implementing literacy intervention programs and progress monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) frameworks.
  • Experience analyzing assessment data to make instructional decisions.
  • Strong understanding of literacy development, including phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing instruction.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience coaching or modeling instructional practices for teachers is preferred.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with the Expeditionary Learning model is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with educational technology, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, student information systems, and other instructional technology tools.
