Religious School Coordinator

Part-Time | Primarily Sundays + Select Weekdays

Temple Beth Zion (TBZ), a historic and vibrant Reform Jewish congregation, seeks a mission-driven, community-centered Religious School Coordinator to lead our educational program and nurture the next generation of Jewish learners. This is a meaningful part-time opportunity for an educator or community leader who wants to make a lasting impact. The salary range is $24,000- $30,000 commensurate with experience.

The Religious School Coordinator oversees curriculum, faculty, operations, and family communication for TBZ’s Religious School. Working closely with clergy, staff, and lay leaders, this role offers the chance to shape a warm, joyful, and inclusive Jewish learning community. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and passionate about Jewish education — someone who can inspire teachers, support families, and bring both creativity and structure to a dynamic program.

This role is designed as a part-time position centered on Sunday school hours, with additional time for select weekday programs, holidays, and family events. Many responsibilities — including curriculum planning, family communication, and staff coordination — can be handled flexibly during the week. We’re committed to working with the right candidate to build a schedule that fits.

• Recruit, hire, supervise, and support Religious School faculty
• Oversee school operations including scheduling, communications, and weekly program logistics
• Develop and maintain the annual school calendar and School Handbook
• Implement and evaluate curricula in Hebrew, Judaics, Jewish values, holidays, Torah, Israel, and mitzvot
• Coordinate Hebrew education and B’Mitzvah preparation in partnership with clergy
• Plan and support student-led Shabbat services and family education programs
• Communicate regularly with families and meet with parents regarding student needs or progress
• Lead staff meetings, provide teacher resources, and conduct end-of-year evaluations
• Collaborate with the Religious School Committee and Board on budgeting and planning
• Strengthen connections between the school, TBZ community, and local Jewish organizations Qualifications

• Experience in Jewish education, school administration, or related program leadership
• Strong organizational, communication, and team-leadership skills
• Familiarity with Reform Jewish values and inclusive community norms — or genuine willingness to learn
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education or Jewish studies a plus
• Availability for Sunday school hours, select weekday programs, and key holiday and family events
