EVCS is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for 12 weeks.  The position is in a Grade 5 Classroom and responsibilities include:###

The Role We are looking for a dedicated and creative Elementary Long-Term Substitute Teacher who is passionate about urban education. You will be responsible for fostering a classroom culture that is inclusive, academically challenging, and grounded in the EVCS mission.###

Key Responsibilities
* Instructional Excellence:
Plan and deliver EVCS’ curriculum through engaging, differentiated lessons in all core subjects aligned with New York State Standards.
* Classroom Culture:
Implement Responsive Classroom techniques to build a positive and orderly classroom culture. Manage classroom transitions and student behavior with empathy and consistency.
* Assessment & Data:
Use formal and informal assessments to track student progress, adjust instruction, and provide meaningful feedback to students and families.

* Collaboration:

Work closely with Instructional Coaches, grade level colleagues, special education teachers, and academic interventionists to ensure students—including ENL students and students with IEPs—reach their full potential.
* Professional Growth:
Participate in weekly coaching PLC meetings, observation and feedback cycles, and professional development sessions to continuously refine your craft.### Qualifications & Requirements

* Education:

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
* Certification:
Valid New York State Teaching Certification (Initial or Professional) in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) or Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade
2) commensurate with specific vacancy level.

* Experience:

Previous experience in an urban school setting or a charter environment is highly valued.

* Collaboration:

Exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented school environment.
* Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and parent outreach, an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
