Overview

Senior Manufacturing Engineer - 5-Axis Milling — Buffalo, NY (East Aurora, NY site). Full Time. The Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - 5-Axis Milling to join our Prismatic (Complex Milling) Manufacturing Group in East Aurora, NY. This is a high-impact role for a technically strong manufacturing engineer with deep expertise in complex CNC milling and process ownership.

In this role, you will lead new product introduction
, advanced process development
, and continuous improvement initiatives for high-precision aerospace components. You'll work hands-on with complex milled parts while collaborating across engineering, operations, quality, and automation teams.

• Lead development of manufacturing processes for new aerospace components
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives across engineering teams
• Create, validate, and prove out 5-Axis CNC programs, operation sequences, work holding concepts, tooling/gauge lists, and detailed work instructions
• Provide hands-on support to improve existing production processes through shop-floor engagement
• Estimate time standards, labor ratios, and economic run quantities for complex parts
• Generate detailed cost estimates for new business pursuits and process improvements
• Evaluate, justify, and implement new capital equipment and manufacturing technologies
• Collaborate daily with engineers, technicians, operations, quality teams, and suppliers to resolve process issues
• Mentor peers and junior engineers; provide technical leadership
• Lead manufacturing engineering projects and potentially own the engineering scope of a dedicated manufacturing cell
• Support and optimize automated manufacturing cells to reduce labor content and process variability

• Education & Experience (any one of the following):
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Associate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of proven professional experience
• Strong experience in 5-Axis CNC Milling programming using CAD/CAM systems (NX preferred)
• Proven end-to-end process engineering experience (raw material to finished product)
• Hands-on machining experience, including machine setup and operation
• Expertise machining aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and similar aerospace materials
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, work holding, and fixture design
• Excellent communication, documentation, and technical writing skills
• Project management experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
