Fisher Associates is seeking a Transportation Highway Group Technical Manager / Civil Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership on highway and roadway design projects across Upstate New York. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Civil Engineer or Transportation Engineer who is passionate about transportation infrastructure, technical excellence, and mentoring engineers.

What You’ll Do as a Transportation Highway Group Manager- Deliver transportation projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life in local communities.
- Foster a high-performing, motivated team through clear expectations, constructive feedback, mentoring, and career development.
- Oversee the design and execution of highway engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Serve as a technical lead, guiding the team on best practices, decisions, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Implement and oversee quality control processes and conduct technical audits to ensure high standards.
- Maintain effective communication with project managers, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure effective resource allocation, adequate staffing, and utilization to meet project and team goals.
- Assist in recruiting top engineering talent that aligns with the team’s technical excellence and company culture.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance.
- Stay current with transportation design trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into project solutions.
- Contribute to the organization's technical strategy and help forecast future technical needs.
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- 8-15 years’ experience in transportation, roadway, or highway engineering
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it
- Prior staff management preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office;
Micro Station preferred - Familiarity with NYSDOT design standards preferred
