We’re seeking a Senior Design Drafter to support complex mechanical design efforts from concept through production. This role partners closely with Design Engineers and Manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready designs in a fast-paced, technically rigorous environment.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who can take incomplete requirements and turn them into complete design packages
, while maintaining strict adherence to engineering, manufacturing, and military documentation standards.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to support conceptual and detailed design development
- Prepare complete design packages with minimal technical input, including:
- Schematics
- Detail and assembly drawings
- Parts lists (BOMs)
- Perform complex redesigns and repackaging of existing products, including component and hardware sizing/selection
- Execute engineering calculations related to sizing, performance, tolerances, and assembly
- Select appropriate components, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Design tooling and fixtures as required
- Review and verify work completed by junior drafting personnel
- Ensure compliance with company and military standards for design documentation
- Support Production in resolving manufacturing and design‑related issues
- Coordinate with Production on:
- Kit structures
- Alternate parts
- Revision control
- Manage assigned projects to ensure on‑time completion of deliverables
- 7+ years of mechanical design/drafting experience
- Minimum Associate’s degree in Engineering (or related technical discipline)
- Extensive experience with high‑performance, high‑density packaging design
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical input
- Strong understanding of:
- Engineering principles
- Drafting standards
- Manufacturing processes
- Model‑Based Definition (MBD) experience highly desired
- Proficiency with Siemens NX (3D MCAD) preferred
- Vendor coordination for dimensional and functional specifications
- Presenting design results and clearly substantiating:
