We are seeking a Quality Engineer to serve as a key technical partner across Production, Engineering, Suppliers, and Supplier Quality. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring product quality by driving problem‑solving initiatives, supporting manufacturing operations, and leading containment and corrective actions for quality issues. This position offers hands‑on exposure to manufacturing operations while also providing opportunities to influence quality systems, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
WhatYou’ll Do
As a Quality Engineer, you will:
- Follow and actively enforce all site safety guidelines and policies.
- Partner with Production and Engineering teams to address quality issues, implement containment actions, and drive resolutions.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders and Group Leaders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Audit elements of Quality Manual and GMS Built‑In Quality Statements.
- Review and approve Standardized Work for assigned departments to ensure compliance with Tonawanda Quality Standards.
- Lead problem‑solving efforts for supplier, internal, and customer quality concerns.
- Ensure effective containment and resolution of non‑conforming product.
- Communicate emerging quality risks and issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Support the PTR (Problem Tracking and Resolution) process by running PTRs and evaluating their impact on product performance and functionality.
- Review and approve Plant Floor Change Management Requests for assigned departments.
- Support departmental scrap reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Internship experience in Manufacturing or an Engineering discipline.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work and rotate across all three shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High integrity, with the ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and take ownership of responsibilities.
Candidates with the following will have a competitive advantage:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a Quality and/or Manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems by identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and seek out solutions.
- Knowledge of GMS (Global Manufacturing System) principles and practices.
This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
