Building Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Our Northeast Engineering Design Organization (EDO) is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and plumbing systems for a diverse range of buildings and facilities. This role involves leading engineering tasks from concept design through construction close‑out, developing drawings, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates.

The position operates in a hybrid environment: three days per week in the office and remaining days remote, with the flexibility to collaborate across a high‑performing team.

• Lead product and solution development – carry out engineering activities to analyze customer needs and deliver solutions.
• Build personal capability – participate in training, coaching, and pursue professional accreditation.
• Design engineering solutions – contribute to feasibility testing and supervise implementation.
• Develop engineering standards and specifications – support drafting and evaluate effectiveness of standards.
• Drive improvement/innovation – identify process gaps and apply change‑management programs.
• Conduct inspections – evaluate quality of engineering works and recommend remedial actions.
• Project manage within established plans to achieve specific goals.
• Support knowledge management systems.
• Assist senior colleagues in client and customer relationship management.

• Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of HVAC and/or plumbing design experience (public or private sector); consulting experience highly desired.
• Solid understanding of state and national building and energy codes and standards.
• Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software and Revit.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Salary Range: $72,000 – $144,500 (based on experience and location).
