Job SummaryRCM Engineering Process & Industrial Services Division employs engineers to design industrial plant facilities that manufacture gases, chemicals, and other continuous process products. We are seeking an ambitious, dynamic Civil / Structural Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in our Buffalo office. The position is full‑time and onsite.
Key Responsibilities- Work with Civil / Structural design teams on diverse and challenging projects.
- Collaborate with fellow Civil / Structural engineers and designers, contributing technical expertise and ensuring quality.
- Interface with other plant design disciplines such as mechanical/piping, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and developing technical staff; participate in the mentorship program.
- Analyze and engineer steel process frame structures for operational, lifting, handling, and transportation loads.
- Develop and review design drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Engineer modular, skidded systems and heavy concrete foundations for rotating equipment (e.g., large compressors, pumps).
- Evaluate geotechnical studies to determine foundation requirements and soil bearing capacities.
- Engineer and evaluate deep foundations and piling systems.
- Review fabrication drawings and construction submittals for conformity to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Estimate required Civil / Structural engineering hours for proposed future work.
- Conduct site visits and structural field investigations within plants to gather information, assess conditions, verify designs, and provide on‑site assistance during startup or construction.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with concrete and steel design for industrial plant facilities.
- Authorized to work in the United States and able to obtain required security clearances for client site access.
- United States Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards such as AWS, AISC, IBC, and ACE.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis, preferably STAAD Pro.
- Ability to prepare structural calculations using Excel.
- Willingness to travel to client locations or project sites.
- Ability to work on construction sites and in operating industrial facilities.
- Independent and team‑orientated work style.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Civil / Structural Engineering (preferred).
