Industrial Group specializes in developing custom hydraulic and electromechanical precision motion control solutions. Our current customer base includes flight simulation, oil and gas exploration, and custom hydraulic and electro‑mechanical solutions. The position is geared toward technical career ladder advancement. This necessitates innovating technical solutions with the goal of accelerating product platforms into diverse markets.

As a Quality Assurance Project Engineer in Moog's Industrial Group, you’ll report to the Quality Assurance Manager and will be responsible for driving product and process quality through design optimization, statistical problem solving, and cross‑functional leadership during product development and launch. The Project Quality Engineer uses APQP and PPAP, capability studies, DOE, SPC and regression analysis to reduce variation, validate designs against manufacturing and assembly & test (A&T) capabilities, and ensure robust production readiness.

  • Lead product development quality activities across new product introduction and design change efforts, providing capability input, key characteristic identification, and manufacturability feedback.
  • Develop and implement APQP plans and manage PPAP submissions to qualify parts and processes for production.
  • Design and execute statistical studies (SPC, capability studies, DOE, regression) to diagnose issues and drive design/process improvements.
  • Create and maintain process control plans, gauge capability studies, and measurement systems analysis.
  • Consult with Design, Manufacturing, Materials & Process Engineering, and Quality Assurance to optimize designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Present capability and variation reduction findings at customer and internal design reviews.
  • Train and mentor cross‑functional teams in statistical methods and APQP/PPAP practices.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets for quality engineering activities; may supervise up to four quality engineers/technicians.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5 years' relevant experience with applied statistics and manufacturing design knowledge; or MS in Applied Statistics (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in product development with hands‑on application of APQP and PPAP.
  • Strong background in applied statistics and data analysis: SPC, capability studies, MSA, DOE, and regression analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing and assembly & test (A&T) processes for complex electrohydraulic, electromechanical, or electropneumatic systems (or equivalent complex electromechanical products).
  • Proven ability to translate manufacturing capability data into design requirements and corrective actions.
  • Excellent problem solving, written/verbal communication, and presentation skills for internal teams and customers.
  • Experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary Design‑to‑Cost teams and working independently on technical program decisions.
