Job Title:

Electronic Technician

The Electronic Technician 2 supports the Manufacturing Test department within the Operations organization by testing and assembling electronic products used as components in Electronic Warfare simulation systems. This on-site role in Buffalo, NY focuses on performing routine technical functions related to development engineering activities, including testing, troubleshooting, fabrication, and assembly of electronic and electro‑mechanical systems. The position operates on 2nd shift from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM and plays a key role in ensuring products meet design specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine technical functions in support of development engineering activities, including design test checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronic and electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Build and test experimental design circuitry, prototype models, and specialized test equipment used in Electronic Warfare simulation systems.
  • Work with analog, digital, RF, and video‑type circuits and logic systems as part of development and manufacturing test activities.
  • Follow schematics, diagrams, layouts, wire lists, written instructions, and verbal descriptions to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, and prototype building.
  • Conduct environmental testing and simple developmental engineering tasks under close supervision with guidance readily available from senior staff.
  • Perform routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to verify conformance with design specifications.
  • Diagnose and isolate malfunctions down to the component level, using appropriate test methods and documentation to support root‑cause analysis.
  • Conduct defined engineering tests, collect test data accurately, and document results in accordance with established procedures.
  • Utilize development and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, volt‑ohm meters (VOM), digital voltmeters (DVM), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers to support testing and troubleshooting.
  • Assemble and handle small electronic and electro‑mechanical parts, ensuring proper fit, function, and adherence to assembly procedures.
  • Support microelectronics work and perform tuning under a microscope when required, following detailed instructions and precision techniques.
  • Use drawings, source control documents, and test procedures to execute tests and verify product performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support development, test, and validation activities, providing feedback and observations from test results.
  • Perform soldering and electronic assembly tasks in accordance with defined processes and quality standards.
  • Contribute to a performance‑based, metrics‑driven environment by meeting production, quality, and testing targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, test results, and issues identified, following established documentation practices.
  • Comply with all applicable procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards while working in development engineering and test equipment areas.
Essential Skills
  • 4 years of relevant electronic technician experience, or an Associate’s degree in an electronic field of study plus 2 years of related experience, or 2 years of U.S. military electronic schooling plus 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting RF and digital equipment in a development or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency using test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic testing and fault isolation down to the component level.
  • Experience with electronics testing and troubleshooting in support of engineering or manufacturing operations.
  • Hands‑on experience with electronic and electro‑mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to read and work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, and other technical documentation.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to handle, assemble, and rework small parts and components.
  • Capability to use standard development and diagnostic equipment including oscilloscopes, VOMs, DVMs, signal generators, and similar instruments.
