Tesla is seeking a motivated Process Engineer to support Gigafactory New York's Production Control Team. This role focuses on the end-to-end design, configuration, and sustainment of raw material flow, from concept design to launch and audit. This role will design, implement, and model labor requirements, measure success, audit results, and continuously improve the storage and flow of materials at Gigafactory New York.
This role requires a solid understanding of warehousing fundamentals. It is critical for a successful candidate to solve problems using first principles analysis and exercise aggressive design optimization and data to justify design and improvements.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and improving the current factory process and design, which supports seamless integration between production, raw goods storage, and material flow. Innovation is expected through a detailed understanding of high-level factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams.

WhatYou'll Do
- Develop/Improve end-to-end material flow design for the production control team while optimizing factory and warehouse space, labor, and throughput variables
- Design innovative material flow strategies for various materials for all production lines
- Integrate effective delivery strategies to support safety and drive efficiency
- Improve/Design models to aid with predicting material handling labor, warehouse space, and material handling equipment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams comprising Packaging Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and more, to ensure the right strategies and designs are implemented
- Challenge the assumptions behind manufacturing designs and base design recommendations on the first principles approach
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Factory Design layout teams to design detailed lineside layouts for materials
- Develop innovative, cost-effective solutions with the packaging team for part presentation, packing density, and sustainability in automated and manual solutions
- Design conceptual warehouse configurations to aid with analysis
- Perform clash detection analysis for material flow routes in the factory footprint to ensure a smooth flow of materials
- 4+ years of industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering experience emphasizing material flow/supply chain/process improvement (internship experience will be considered)
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience quantitatively solving ambiguous problems at a systems level
- Extensive detailed analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives
