Duties description duties include, but are not limited to:
* perform engineering duties related to a group of electrical systems projects.
* advise on electrical systems design or management of ongoing rehabilitation of existing electrical equipment.
* assist a higher-level professional engineer overseeing subcontractors or development of electrical specifications writing and estimates of work.
* evaluation operations problems in existing electrical systems.
* may supervise consultant work.
* perform other duties as assigned.
Operational needs:
* travel may be required (approximately 20%).
* possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license issued by the nys department of motor vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Notes:
* there is no examination required for appointment to a ny helps position. Candidates hired via ny helps will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that ny helps employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of new york state. While serving permanently in a ny helps title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Salary adjustments for positions at the assistant level (not trainee) in buffalo:
Geographic pay differential added to hiring salary $7,000.
The office of the general services (ogs) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to ogs design and construction (d&c) will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee's duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so.
Upon approval to telecommute, ogs d&c employees may telecommute up to 4 days per pay period.
