Process Engineer IIThe Process Engineer II will provide hands‑on support in the areas of process development and troubleshooting, cost improvement, and product quality improvement by working directly with the Production teams at all levels. This role reports to the Process Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities- Monitor process variables to ensure production standards are met and take action as needed.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards to ensure product quality.
- Responsible for reducing process variations to consistently produce product at target quality level and lowest production cost.
- Develop best practices to reduce process variations in collaboration with the quality function.
- Take an active part in the Site Safety Improvement Plan and bring technical expertise to help the site reduce risks.
- Review operations and confer with technical, manufacturing and quality personnel to resolve production or processing problems.
- Analyze production issues using collected data and process knowledge to provide engineering solutions.
- Attend production stoppages and work to return the facility to operation as soon as possible.
- Lead process engineering related troubleshooting (batch making issues, spinning, converting, on‑line scraps).
- Work actively to identify and recommend process improvements in support of overall continuous improvement and cost savings.
- Provide recommendations for safe equipment operation and appropriate application of available technology.
- Ensure that adequate documentation and training is in place to meet process standards and quality expectations.
- As needed, conduct training sessions aimed at improving employees’ base understanding of the production process and customer requirements, and enhancing problem‑solving skills.
- Support R&D trials of new products, new/alternate process materials, material suppliers, or process parameters.
- Ensure that team operations, including those undertaken on the Company’s behalf by third‑party service providers, are conducted in compliance with Alkegen health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.
- Be actively involved in personal development plans to maximize performance and contribute to business succession requirements.
- Comply with all Federal, State, Local and Company rules and regulations on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
- Maintain Alkegen’s highest level of safety standards on site, including identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Embodier Alkegen's core safety principles, including The Seven Safety Absolutes, use of PPE, and Safe Standards of Work at all times.
- Champion safety in the workplace each day.
- Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, materials, mechanical or industrial engineering.
- 2–5 years related experience in a chemical/materials manufacturing environment or technical role.
- Statistical analysis and problem solving (e.g., DOE) knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal, written, oral, and presentation skills; strong computer skills (e.g., Wonderware, Excel, Statistical Packages).
- Team player, capable of working closely with other process engineers, quality technicians, operators, and maintenance personnel to determine practical solutions to operational issues.
- Hands‑on self‑starter with self‑accountability.
- Attention to detail with inquisitive personality.
- Strong aptitude for statistical analysis techniques.
- Understanding of continuous manufacturing.
- Ability to adjust daily priorities to meet changing site needs.
- Ability to work safely under pressure and to tight timescales.
- Experience working in fast‑paced manufacturing environments, ideally with chemical and/or automotive experience.
- Strong work ethic and desire to become a subject matter expert.
- $81,000 – $101,000.
- Compensation offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
