Job Description
This contract-to-hire role offers the opportunity to work with advanced Joint Threat Emitter (JTE) electronic warfare systems at United States Air Force bases across the continental United States and abroad. As an Electrical Field Technician 3, you install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify JTE equipment and associated subsystems to ensure optimal performance of integrated radar, electronic warfare, and digital RF systems.
You travel extensively to customer sites, perform critical system upgrades and engineering changes, and provide on-site technical support to meet demanding mission requirements.
Responsibilities
+ Deploy to multiple United States Air Force installations across both CONUS and OCONUS to upgrade, maintain, and support JTE systems.
+ Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify JTE equipment and associated subsystems to ensure reliable system performance.
+ Analyze system performance, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions promptly to restore full operational capability.
+ Execute engineering change installations and system enhancements in close coordination with engineering teams.
+ Conduct system upgrades, including hardware and software changes, to keep systems current with evolving requirements.
+ Use electronic and RF test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power meters to test, troubleshoot, and verify system performance.
+ Perform detailed testing and troubleshooting of radar, electronic warfare, and commercial RF/digital equipment to component or subsystem level as required.
+ Apply strong mechanical aptitude, including extensive use of hand and power tools, to install, align, and secure equipment and components.
+ Provide on-site technical support and field service to customers, including explaining findings, recommended actions, and system status.
+ Maintain clear, accurate documentation of maintenance actions, upgrades, test results, and configuration changes.
+ Provide timely status updates and reports to stakeholders, including field service coordination teams and engineering support.
+ Adhere to all safety procedures, technical manuals, and quality standards while working on electronic warfare and RF systems.
+ Support local site tasks or other assigned duties during periods without travel, depending on home base location.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 4 years of relevant field technician experience, or an Associate's degree in a technical discipline plus 2 years of related experience.
+ Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including extensive use of hand and power tools for installation and maintenance tasks.
+ Proficiency in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing radar, electronic warfare, or commercial RF/digital equipment.
+ Hands-on experience using RF and electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 100% of the time, often deploying directly between customer sites.
+ Physical ability to lift and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, with an interim clearance acceptable to start.
+ Strong field service mindset, with the ability to work independently at remote customer sites and make sound technical decisions.
+ Solid documentation and communication skills to record work performed and provide clear status updates.

Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's or higher technical degree with 4 years of customer-facing field support experience.
+ Prior experience working with JTE systems or similar electronic warfare and RF systems.
+ Training from U.S. military electronic warfare or RF schools.
+ RF electronics diagnostics.
+ Experience executing engineering change installations and system enhancements in collaboration with engineering teams.
+ Experience in contract-to-hire or field service roles supporting defense-related or mission-critical systems.
+ Comfort working in customer-facing environments, representing the field service team professionally.
+ Familiarity with per diem processes and travel expense tools similar to Concur is beneficial.
Work Environment
The primary home base for this position is Buffalo, NY, with flexibility to negotiate an alternative home base location within the United States. Field Service Representatives based in Buffalo may receive local site support assignments or other tasks during periods without travel, while those based outside Buffalo typically remain at their personal residence between deployments. The role requires extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, to United States Air Force bases and other customer locations across CONUS and OCONUS.
