Position: MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Manufacturing Engineer

Power Drives, Inc. is a Buffalo-based manufacturer specializing in custom-engineered hose, tube, and fluid conveyance systems for a wide range of industrial and mobile equipment applications. Objective

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in optimizing and advancing manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality production and operational efficiency. This position is responsible for leading engineering initiatives that improve product design, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturing throughput. The role involves close collaboration with design, quality, and production teams to implement innovative solutions and resolve complex manufacturing challenges. The Manufacturing Engineer also mentors junior engineers and contributes to strategic planning related to manufacturing capabilities and capacity expansion.

This role drives continuous improvement efforts that support the company's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment
  • Solid modeling experience using Solid Works, Pro-E, Inventor, or equivalent
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification such as Six Sigma Black Belt or Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)
  • Experience with automation or robotics integration
  • Previous project leadership experience
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and equipment to improve efficiency, quality, and safety
  • Lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving efforts to address production issues and reduce downtime
  • Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective production methods
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and training materials
  • Manage pilot runs and new product introductions to ensure a smooth transition to full production
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to manufacturing staff
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and materials
Skills

The Manufacturing Engineer applies strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and develop innovative solutions that enhance product quality and manufacturing throughput. Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies supports continuous improvement efforts. Strong project management and organizational skills are essential for overseeing new product introductions and process advancements to ensure successful and timely implementation.

Pay Range

Starting at $100k and up, annual incentive plan in place

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual salaries will be set within the compensation range and determined by factors such as market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, use hands to operate a computer and office equipment, and communicate effectively via phone and email. The employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift or move items up to 10 pounds.
