Position

The Electrical Engineer position is a hybrid or onsite role depending on department requirements. It is a dynamic, fast-track role reporting to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager within the service engineering group. This position is a highly technical, customer-facing member of the service engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering assignments involving technology applications in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of solar inverters and battery storage technologies.
  • Lead complex field engineering assignments.
  • Interact with customers to explain the technical scope of projects.
  • Create and update field service procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Provide training to customers, vendors, and internal personnel as a virtual member of the training center.
  • Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for technical documents and training.
  • Be responsible for technical issues in a designated region based on the job assignment.
  • Lead the preparation of root cause reports to customers.
  • Lead and track technical issues from customers/FST/PM/etc. in Airtable to visualize the issue resolution process.
  • Analyze failures for trends and provide proactive actions and reports.
  • Provide feedback to the R&D team on potential mechanical and electrical design improvements.
  • Advise, provide training on, and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
  • Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing of solar inverters and components in the field or laboratory. Use of PQA and oscilloscope as needed.
  • Troubleshoot to investigate solar plant issues such as battery issues, inverter faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients.
  • Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters.
  • Research alternative components suitable for field use.
  • Independently perform a range of field service tasks involving communication with Factory Engineering and the customer’s solar plant engineer.
  • Coordinate with engineering, logistics, finance, and program management to maintain solar/BESS plants.
  • Assist with repair activities in the Service center.
  • Prepare and submit field reports to customers and management.
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort.
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations, and analyze engineering problems. Propose solutions and recommendations.
  • Inspect working conditions to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Participate in weekly calls with Engineers from Headquarters to review progress on issue resolution.
  • Provide details for monthly reports.
Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
  • Customer service, problem-solving, decision making, and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical and construction site safety.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Education or Desired License and Certificates
  • 4 years of experience in power electronics-related roles as service engineer/application engineer/R&D/Product Management or similar, or 2 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Solar industry, battery industry, or power electronics experience preferred.
