This is a leadership role where you can shape major infrastructure projects without giving up the technical work you love (if you want to remain technical). You’ll guide a high-performing team across NYSDOT Regions 4, 5, and 6 with expansion plans into region 3 and have a tangible impact on both the work and the people behind it.

• This firm is big enough to work on meaningful projects in NY and beyond, yet small enough that executive leadership actually knows who you are and listens to your ideas
• An established WNY engineering department with active project backlog across county, municipal, and NYSDOT clients: you'd be leading a functioning team, not building one from scratch
• BD-forward role — guiding client relationships and directing scope negotiations, with experienced senior PMs handling delivery
• Ability to stay technical on a project or two, but this is not a fulltime design seat
• Work rooted in locally administered federal-aid and NYSDOT capital program projects — recurring, region-specific scope that doesn't disappear
• $150–175K base plus bonus, (but flexible for the right person), stock ownership

• Lead transportation department operations, client growth, and project delivery
• Mentor PMs on scope, budgets, staffing, and execution
• Oversee and contribute to highway design (roadways, ADA, traffic control, drainage)
• Prepare and guide specifications, estimates, and bid packages
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
• Ensure QA/QC standards are consistently met
• Build client relationships and support proposal strategy

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York or ability to get one
• Understanding of DOT standards and processes
• Experience guiding teams using Micro Station, Open Roads, or Civil 3D
• Comfortable balancing leadership with technical expertise
