Controls Engineer
We are seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to support a high-volume manufacturing facility focused on next-generation industrial automation. This position is part of a specialized engineering team responsible for deploying, supporting, and optimizing advanced manufacturing technologies including Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), industrial robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, and automated material handling systems.
This is primarily a shop-floor engineering role (80–90% on the manufacturing floor) supporting production, maintenance, and automation systems. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting complex manufacturing equipment, working directly with operations teams, and supporting the implementation of cutting-edge Industry 4.0 technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment in a high-volume production environment.
- Diagnose automation faults using Siemens PLCs and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell control systems.
- Read, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI interfaces.
- Support production and maintenance teams during equipment breakdowns and automation-related issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Support Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), including routing, navigation, communication, and material transport issues.
- Maintain and support AMR fleet management systems to ensure reliable automated material movement.
- Troubleshoot and support Fanuc Robots and Cobots.
- Participate in commissioning, startup, validation, and production launch of new automation equipment.
- Assist with procurement and implementation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Create and maintain automation documentation, operating procedures, and project records.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Materials, Logistics, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Support capital projects involving robotics, automated material handling, and smart factory technologies.
- Identify opportunities for automation improvements and continuous process optimization.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting manufacturing automation within a high-volume production environment.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting experience with PLC-controlled equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving, root cause analysis, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
