Position: Environmental Permitting Specialists (Field Based)

ERM is hiring Environmental Permitting Specialists to support key client operations in either Albany/Syracuse/Buffalo, NY. The role holderswillbe responsible fore manning environmentallicensing andpermittingactivities for electric and gas projectstoensure compliance with applicable local, state,and federal environmental requirements. This includes ensuring applicable local, state,and federal environmental requirements arecommunicatedand implemented for a variety of projects from project initiation through designand construction. This is a full time (40 hours per week) limited-term role with a duration of 1 year, extendable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review electric, gas and facility capital improvement projects and facility modifications to evaluate potential impacts on the environment and the need for regulatory permits and/or authorizations
  • Oversee clients’ field operations, including the management and documentation of site visits, tomonitorand facilitate compliance with applicable local, state, federal andcompany requirements
  • Maintaina high levelof knowledgeregardingcurrent and proposed federal,stateand local regulations and clients’ Environmental Procedures to ensure client is compliant with environmental legislation and regulations
  • Trainand motivate engineering and specific corporate-based personnel tocomply withall applicable federal,stateand local environmental regulations,and clients Environmental Procedures.

    This includesprovidingtechnical guidance,support and coaching to share knowledge and develop technical understanding of environmental requirements
  • Successfully manage permitting within project schedules
  • Review and manage environmental aspects of projects during design and construction.
Successful candidates will:
  • Effectively communicate with peers and regulators
  • Work independently, manage priorities, and organize workloads with moderate guidance
  • Build strong working relationships with Operations, Engineering,Project Management, Construction, Legal, Real Estate,Safety and otherpersonnelto share best practice andcommunicatebusiness decisions
  • Manage high work volumes and apply sound problem-solving skills to obtain, research and analyze data; draw inferences; and make recommendations to client’s personnel and service providers
Minimum Requirements:
  • ABachelor’sdegree in environmental science, environmental/civil engineering,or related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in permitting, preferably related to electric and/or gas utility projects
  • Demonstratedknowledgeof relevant industry practice,standard sand legislation.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental licensing andpermittingregulatory requirements.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with GIS.
Pay Transparency:

For the Environmental Permitting Specialists position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $81,710 – $108,285, $39.28/hr – $52.06/hr USD/CAD , limited-term, non-exempt. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).
