Transit Facility Design Engineer

Join our Transit team and help design the mechanical systems and specialized equipment that keep public transportation facilities operating. You will contribute to HVAC, vehicle maintenance equipment, fueling infrastructure, and process system design for new and existing transit facilities while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary design teams. This position is open in our Williamsville, NY office.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Support the design of specialized vehicle maintenance systems, including vehicle lifts, bus washes, fueling systems, and maintenance equipment.
- Design HVAC systems for new and existing transit facilities, including air-side and hydronic systems.
- Design process piping systems that distribute fluids such as engine oil, coolant, grease, compressed air, and other vehicle service fluids.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system layout development.
- Prepare drawings, reports, and other design documentation.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
- Participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction-phase support.
- Communicate with project teammates, equipment manufacturers, and vendors.
- Contribute to multiple projects while developing technical and professional skills within a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.
- 0-3 years of related experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively within a project team.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Experience with Revit design software preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical calculations, equipment selection, or technical writing preferred.
- Engineer in Training certification or interest in pursuing professional licensure preferred.

Salary Range: $66,000 - $70,000
