Electrical Engineering Design Coordinator
Duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Coordinate and supervise complex electrical engineering design projects.
- Designate type of electrical system to be used for projects, assign, supervise and check the design work of subordinates.
- Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction cost estimates, etc., with the other technical disciplines.
- Actively manage the schedule of assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules.
- Review reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants.
- Actively oversee consultant design work for assigned projects.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress.
- Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project's construction.
- Perform a full range of supervisory duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Operational Needs:
- Travel may be required (approximately 20%).
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Minimum Qualifications:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)
* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:
- A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below; OR
- A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below.
Qualifying degrees:
Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.
Qualifying experience:
One year of full-time engineering experience in electrical systems.
OR
Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 22 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
