Position Overview

MOD
42 is seeking a Revit/BIM Designer to join its engineering team in Buffalo, NY. This individual will develop detailed models and drawings that support the design, fabrication, assembly, and installation of modular data center infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on Revit experience and a background in commercial construction, industrial construction, manufacturing, or fabrication. This person should understand how systems are built and installed and be able to translate engineering concepts into accurate, coordinated, and practical documentation for engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed Revit models for modular assemblies, equipment layouts, and associated building systems.
  • Produce coordinated plans, sections, elevations, schedules, shop drawings, and installation details.
  • Translate engineering sketches, specifications, equipment submittals, and markups into accurate models and drawings.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural elements within project models.
  • Identify clashes, clearance issues, and constructability concerns and work with the appropriate teams to resolve them.
  • Incorporate equipment dimensions, service clearances, connection points, fabrication requirements, and installation needs into layouts.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure designs can be efficiently produced and installed.
  • Create and maintain Revit families, parameters, templates, and reusable model content.
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate modeling questions, conflicts, or missing information.
  • Update models and documentation to reflect approved design changes and feedback from production and field teams.
  • Maintain drawing accuracy, revision control, and consistent modeling standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of hands-on Revit experience developing detailed models and construction or fabrication drawings.
  • Experience supporting commercial construction, industrial construction, manufacturing, or fabrication projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction documents, specifications, and equipment submittals.
  • Understanding of construction methods, fabrication processes, and how systems are assembled and installed.
  • Experience coordinating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, or architectural elements.
  • Ability to identify design conflicts, clearance issues, and installation challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and document control.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work on-site with the engineering team in Buffalo, NY.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modular construction, prefabricated assemblies, or off-site manufacturing.
  • Experience developing shop drawings or fabrication documentation.
  • Background modeling HVAC equipment, piping, ductwork, electrical systems, or other MEP components.
  • Experience supporting data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience creating Revit families and maintaining company modeling standards.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar model coordination tools.
