About the Opportunity:

The Fluid Systems Engineer is responsible for the conception, design, documentation, and implementation of fluid systems-including hydraulic power units, lubrication systems, water systems, and fluid conditioning units. This position serves as the technical bridge between Sales and the customer throughout the full project lifecycle, from estimating and conceptualization through manufacturing and commissioning. The Fluid Systems Engineer collaborates across departments to ensure that all designs meet customer specifications, safety requirements, and company standards.

This position will also provide technical guidance to support departments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 1. Collaborate with Sales, Suppliers and customers to understand fluid system requirements and application needs.
  • 2. Generate conceptual designs and estimates including schematics, layout concepts, and cost projections.
  • 3. Design, develop, and document hydraulic and fluid systems using AutoCAD, Inventor, Excel and Word.
  • 4. Review and interpret specifications and technical documents to ensure value to the end user, project feasibility and compliance.
  • 5. Produce bills of materials (BOMs), schematics, general arrangement drawings, and other required documentation.
  • 6. Lead and/or support the fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems on the shop floor.
  • 7. Oversee system testing, validation, and commissioning, both in-house and at customer sites as needed.
  • 8. Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely project execution.
  • 9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Manufacturing, Service, and Customer Support.
  • 10. Develop common and standard parts, systems, panels along with library for commonality to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • 11. Participate in product lifecycle management and continuous improvement efforts.
  • 12. Provide technical support and training to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • 13. Efficiently manage multiple active projects at varying stages of progress.
  • 14. Development of quotes for new sales and service opportunities.
  • 15. Review and release documentation in vault and to Project Managers.
  • 16. Up to 30% travel to customer sites, both domestic and internationally.
  • 17. Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Job Requirements What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience designing, fabricating, or servicing hydraulic and fluid systems.
What Sets You Apart:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and Autodesk Inventor 3D.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic schematics, fluid circuit design, and component specification.
  • Familiarity with low, medium, and high-pressure hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of fabrication methods, including weldments and structural framing.
  • Basic electrical knowledge (especially related to hydraulic control systems).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be flexible and available to interact with customers, suppliers, colleagues, and staff as required.
  • Highly self-motivated, team-oriented, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Understanding of industry standards (e.g., Tier IV, ABS, NFPA, CE, ATEX, OSHA, ASTM).
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems a plus.
