Overview

As a Wealth Operations Specialist, you’ll provide exceptional servicing for HSBC Retail Wealth Brokerage customers, supporting our segment objectives. You’ll act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), guiding the business line through complex operational functions—especially around Asset Transfers and Managed Account products within International Wealth & Premier Banking (IWPB). Your expertise in Wealth products, execution processes, and advisory accounts will help us deliver a seamless client experience and manage risk effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Review & Approve Transfers:
    Initiate and approve transfers between brokerage accounts—both internally and externally—including Automated Customer Account Transfers(ACATs) from other financial institutions and internal HSBC transfers
  • Be the SME:
    Advise on transfer types, requirements, and processes to complete customer requests submitted by front office personnel
  • Support Advisory Account Expertise:
    Support Brokerage Advisory Accounts and products (e.g., Spectrum, Offshore Spectrum, MPA). Communicate requirements for specific transactions to reduce financial, market, regulatory, and reputational risk
  • Build Partnerships:
    Foster strong relationships with key partners:
    Wealth Relationship Managers (WRMs), Regulatory & Financial Crimes Compliance, AML, Legal, Tax, Wealth Middle Office, external vendors, and the Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) branch network
  • Drive Process Improvement:
    Provide ongoing operational support, raise issues, and propose solutions to streamline processes and enhance the customer experience
  • Ensure Accuracy:
    Review and analyze reports and documents for accuracy, following up with relevant teams to ensure compliance with bank guidelines
  • Maintain Cross-Departmental

    Collaboration:

    Maintain a deep understanding of brokerage systems and processes. Work closely with other Wealth Operations (Wealth Ops) teams to support cross-functional activities
  • Stay Agile:
    Thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly. Stay organized and detail-oriented to avoid monetary, regulatory, and reputational risk
  • Coordinate Transactions:
    Liaise with the Front Office to coordinate cash and security transfers, fund/model changes, asset movements, liquidations, and terminations—ensuring timely action and escalation of any gap
  • Engage Vendors:
    Work with internal and external vendors during program changes, updates, or new offerings to ensure operational processes are followed and documented for audit purposes
Qualifications
  • Experience in Wealth Management Sales Support, Middle-Office Operations, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of banking and brokerage operations, securities products, and relevant regulations—especially around advisory products
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organization, prioritization, and time management abilities
  • Ownership mindset—drive tasks to completion and guide team members
  • Collaborative spirit with the ability to work autonomously and handle escalations
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant brokerage/mainframe systems
