RoleThe Staff Accountant assists the Director of Finance in executing all accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, preparing and evaluating daily, weekly, and monthly financial operating reports, and presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
Essential Functions- Participate in month‑end close activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries and budget‑to‑actual reports.
- Provide training to new and existing staff and serve as a resource on accounting matters.
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure general ledger accounts are reconciled, resolving reconciling items.
- Work cross‑functionally with other groups in day‑to‑day operations.
- Reconcile general ledgers, post journal entries, and assist with preparation of financial statements.
- Handle accruals, fixed‑assets, revenue recognition, and variance analysis.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and post eliminating journal entries.
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents; verify and analyze business records, transactions, and procedures.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts and balance sheets.
- Prepare schedules for quarterly reviews and year‑end audit for independent external auditors; research issues, clarify information, and prepare supporting data.
- Lead special projects as assigned.
- Provide customer service to internal employees and outside contacts.
- Practice safe work habits and complete company and venue safety and general compliance training.
- Maintain a pleasant and collaborative attitude towards customers, co‑workers, and management.
- Adhere to Legends Global and venue company policies.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
- Available to work non‑traditional hours (nights, weekends & holidays).
- CPA preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes.
- Self‑motivated, works independently, and is a strong team player.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Minimum 2 years accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Detail oriented and deadline driven with good analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of management and associates.
- Ability to present financial data concisely, logically, and usefully.
Preferred Qualifications , and/or Experience
- Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting or Finance.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience (preferred).
- Strong analytic and communication skills.
Competitive salary of $63,000 to $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan.
Working ConditionsLocation:
New Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.
- Constant standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to loud noises (e.g., fireworks, voices, and audio systems), flashing lights, and extreme heat/cold.
- Ability to lift/move/maneuver up to 30 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
