This position will provide personal financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations. The role involves full spectrum personal financial counseling, education, briefings, and referral services. The counselor works closely with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and needs are met.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and provide informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a wide variety of personal financial management classes/workshops covering military lifecycle events.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication methods as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program Office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per Department of Defense protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trend information with the installation.
- Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; an associate degree plus 4+ years of experience or a high school diploma plus 6+ years of experience may be considered.
- At least 3 years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
- Possess a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Hold at least one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Maximum: $93,500
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
