Overview
Summer 2026 Intern Priority Consideration:
Applications to close on Friday, 7/24/2026. The Community Branch Management Program (CBMP) is an accelerated leadership development program designed to provide participants with a deep dive into the customer‑centric world of the Consumer Bank. During the one‑year program, Branch Management Trainees engage in core training sessions, on‑the‑job responsibilities, and special projects that arise.
- Core Training:
Complete a one‑year training program focused on banking, basic financial skills, effective communication, coaching practices, and advanced leadership/interpersonal skills. - On‑the‑Job Training:
Apply core‑training skills in branch‑specific roles, covering departmental risk policies, procedures, systems, and financial products. - Branch Network Training:
Learn operations, service, and sales functions to prepare for a Branch Leadership position; include communication skills, product knowledge, operational efficiencies, sales skills, and performance of sales goals.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls per company or regulatory standards and policies.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and any issues raised by external regulators.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
The CBMP is an accelerated leadership development program designed to provide participants with a deep dive into the Consumer Bank. During the program, Branch Management Trainees engage in various core training sessions and on‑the‑job responsibilities which vary by market and are assigned by the mentoring manager.

Education and Experience Required- Bachelor’s (or MS/MBA) degree
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Customer‑facing/retail work experience
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

- Proven leadership abilities
- Demonstrated analytical and computer skills

The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
