Work Arrangement / Location
This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work four days a week. Candidates may be based at Buffalo, NY, Bridgeport, CT, Metro NYC, Boston, MA, Baltimore, MD or Wilmington, DE.
OverviewProvide direct support to Workout Officers, Special Assets Team Leaders, Regional Special Assets Managers, and the Department Manager in credit underwriting, portfolio management, compliance, and monitoring of Special Assets portfolio customers.
Primary Responsibilities- Liaise with Workout Officers to facilitate underwriting approval memos and Problem Loan Management Reports.
- Track receipt of financial statements, order appraisals, and ensure compliance with covenants and borrowing base certificates.
- Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers to gain a thorough understanding of clients and assist in portfolio management.
- Perform due diligence on clients, including trade reference verification, credit reports, and industry/company research.
- Prepare reports for regulators and management, including Problem Loan Management Reports and Scorecards.
- Analyze financial information and assist RMs in preparing cash‑flow and collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, financial models, and guarantor statement analysis.
- Participate in internal strategy discussions.
- Adhere to applicable compliance and operational risk controls per company and regulatory standards.
- Promote an inclusive environment that reflects the MT Bank brand.
- Maintain internal control standards, implement audit points, and respond to external regulators.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Incumbent works under general supervision and works closely with the Special Assets team throughout the loan process, impacting the bank’s long‑term operations, revenues, and profitability.
Education and Experience Required- Bachelor’s degree or four years of equivalent experience.
- Five years of commercial lending or commercial credit experience.
- Strong financial analytical skills.
- Bankruptcy experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge of personal computers and software such as Word and Excel.
- Excellent analytical ability.
- Knowledge of credit principles.
- Highly motivated, detail‑oriented self‑starter.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to interact with external and internal personnel using tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work under critical time constraints.
