Secured Financing is a critical function of Treasury at Charles Schwab. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Securities Funding and Collateral Optimization, this Director will focus on the expansion of our secured funding toolkit, financing capabilities and counter party base across multiple legal entities. Working closely with Capital, Liquidity, Securities Lending and Collateral Management, the Director will execute on the firm’s Liquidity Management strategy to build the optimal, regulatory driven liability portfolio.

you have

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, orrelatedfield.
  • 10+ years of experience in repo and secured financing markets
  • Experienceata major broker-dealer, investment bank, or dealer with a significant prime brokerage andmarketsfranchise.
  • Demonstrated experience managing secured funding books through vary ingrate, balance sheet, and liquidity environments.
  • Experience financing large, non-traditional client positions, i.e. Equities, Corporate Bonds, ABS, Convertible Bonds, etc.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. repo market structure, settlement mechanics, collateral flows, and funding economics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a large prime brokerage financing platform.
  • Familiarity with FICC, sponsored repo, and central clearing infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of broker-dealer regulatory requirements and liquidity frameworks.
  • Experience presenting funding strategy, market color, and risk themes to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Funding Management

  • Execute and manage secured funding activities across tri-party repo, sponsored repo, secured bank lines, collateral upgrades, and cross-product financing transactions.
  • Optimize daily funding and liquidity requirements for the broker-dealer balance sheet.
  • Finance inventory generated by customer margin loan balances
  • Develop funding strategies across market cycles, rate environments, and changing liquidity conditions.
  • Monitor repo market conditions, funding spreads, collateral availability, dealer balance sheet constraints, and financing opportunities.

Risk Management

  • Manage funding, liquidity, counter party, and collateral risks associated with secured financing activity.
  • Monitor maturity concentrations, rollover risk, counter party exposures, haircut levels, and collateral concentrations.
  • Analyze market stress scenarios and contribute to contingency funding strategies.
  • Ensure trading activityremainswithin approved limits, risk appetite, and governance frameworks.
  • Participate in liquidity stress testing, funding contingency planning, and related governance processes.

Balance Sheet & Regulatory Optimization

  • Partner with Treasury, Finance, and Risk tooptimizebalance sheet utilization, liquidity resources, funding costs, and capital efficiency.
  • Incorporate relevant broker-dealer constraints, including net capital, customer reserve, liquidity stress testing, and internal balance sheet allocation frameworks.
  • Contribute to initiatives involving funding diversification, collateral transformation, asset swaps, and balance sheet efficiency.

Counter party & Client Management

  • Maintain and develop relationships with major dealer counter parties, money market funds, custodian banks, agent lenders, central clearing providers, and sponsored repo platforms.
  • Negotiate financing terms, collateral schedules, margin terms, haircuts, and transaction structures.
  • Identify and onboard new funding sources to diversify liquidity access and improve execution resilience.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with Liquidity, Capital, Securities Lending, Collateral Management, Operations and 2nd Line FRM
  • Provide market intelligence, funding themes, and financing strategy recommendations to senior management.
  • Support strategic discussions on funding capacity, client financing economics, balance sheet usage, and liquidity risk.
