Personal Financial Counselor - Army National Guard, Buffalo, NY

Job Summary

Provide personal financial services at assigned military installations for service members and families. Provide a full range of counseling services and classes, both in-person and virtual, per DoD requirements.

• One‑on‑one financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
• Conduct briefings, presentations, and referral resources as needed.
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and provide informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, promote, and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across military lifecycle stages.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Use virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (secure online chat, video, etc.) as authorized.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with installation leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision.
• Participate in regular training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned; duties listed are representative, not all‑inclusive.

• Bachelor’s degree required (Associate degree + 4 years experience, or High school diploma + 6 years experience may be considered).
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish may be required.
• Obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Pass Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Certifications:
  
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

• Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 based on experience, education, and location.
• Short‑term incentives may be available.
