Position SummaryThe University Police Officer 3 will perform the duties of any subordinate officer, supervise, direct, and coordinate assignments of University Police Officers, Lieutenants, Investigators, and other department staff; assist with police operations and special events, communicate orders, information, and instructions. The Officer works on various activities, supporting command staff on assignments and projects, and may also be involved in management of all police and security activities, scheduling, performance evaluation, internal investigations, special event coverage, procurement, training, policy development, reporting, meetings, dispatch supervision, accreditation support, presentations, crime prevention development, and liaison with campus and off-campus stakeholders.
DutiesInclude
- Support the Command staff;
- Assist with the management of all police and security activities for the Department;
- Facilitate scheduling and assign department personnel to effectively and efficiently utilize staff and ensure adequate security coverage;
- Alter schedules to provide coverage of anticipated periods of peak demands for law enforcement and security services;
- Evaluate the performance of staff and make recommendations regarding performance evaluations, probationary or other terminations;
- Conduct and supervise internal investigations;
- Coordinate special event coverage;
- Procure uniforms and equipment;
- Determine the need for training and assign and select staff for participation;
- Recommend changes in policies, rules, and regulations;
- Tabulate statistical data, prepare reports, and collaborate with other agencies to accomplish law enforcement goals;
- Attend meetings at the request of the Chief of Police or other command staff;
- Supervise dispatchers;
- Support accreditation, policy development, and standards compliance;
- Work on presentations and University Police project development;
- Develop crime prevention initiatives for implementation;
- Serve as liaison with on and off‑campus safety and security stakeholders, student life, and law enforcement partners; develop and maintain close working relationships with other police and security forces.

Salary Range: $87,370
