Junior Medical Biller - UBMD Physicians Group | Full-Time | Onsite

Department: Surgery

Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour

Work Location: In person

The Surgery Department is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Medical Biller to support revenue cycle operations through accurate charge entry, payment posting, claim follow-up, and patient account assistance.

This role is responsible for ensuring timely billing and revenue recognition while maintaining compliance with HIPAA guidelines and supporting patients with billing-related questions. The Junior Medical Biller will also assist with departmental coverage and special projects as needed.

Billing & Charge Entry

• Accurately enter physician billing sheets into the system for timely billing and revenue recognition
• Obtain, verify, and update patient demographic information for billing purposes
• Maintain posting spreadsheets and related billing documentation

Claims Follow-Up & Reimbursement Support

• Follow up on denied, underpaid, adjudicated, and un-adjudicated claims
• Identify and report payer trends related to inappropriate reimbursement, denials, or untimely adjudication to the Billing Manager
• Process over payments and refunds in a timely manner

Confidentiality & Compliance

• Maintain confidentiality of billing and patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
• Keep the Billing Manager informed of any major issues affecting billing performance

Departmental Support & Coverage

• Provide cross-coverage for billing and follow-up/collections specialists within the department when needed
• Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Billing Manager or Director of Revenue Cycle Administration

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical billing coursework preferred

Experience & Skills

• Billing or collections experience preferred but not required
• Physician billing experience preferred
• Knowledge of insurance processes and healthcare terminology preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
