We are seeking an Assistant Program Manager to work in our Certified Day Habilitation program at our Abbott Road, Lackawanna location. Assistant Program Managers provide assistance to the Certified Day Habilitation Program Manager in day-to-day general management of the program. A successful Assistant Program Manager will ensure all site Direct Support Professionals are properly trained and ready to meet the needs of the people supported at the Respite site and performs the Direct Support Professional job as necessary to ensure consistent and quality services are provided.
Assistant Program Managers within our Day Habilitation program work in a full time position. Shifts are available at Day Habilitation centers throughout Erie County during first shift (day shift) during the week.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism and are also expected to uphold the New York State DSP Code of Ethics and Agency mission at all times.
- Promote person centered planning and assess the ability and skill sets of people served through observation and monitoring site documentation to determine the needs of each person served.
- Assistant Program Managers review all documentation submitted by Direct Support Professionals and ensures all documentation required for billing is present. The Assistant Site Manager also ensures billing issues or concerns are reported timely to the Program Manager.
- Assist with on-site training for new Direct Support Professionals and role models appropriate behavior for all site staff.
- Responsible for daily coaching and mentoring of site staff, and should coordinate staff scheduling and shift assignments to ensure safety needs and minimum staffing is met at all times.
- Assists with supervising all full time, part time and per diem Direct Support Professionals assigned to the Day Habilitation program.
- Must hold a High School Diploma/GED or higher.
- Must have at least 6 months full time experience in an OPWDD setting.
- Must have experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities who have challenging behaviors and/or dual diagnosis (intellectual disability and mental health disorder) in a day habilitation setting is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of intellectual disabilities and/or mental health disorders.
- Must have the ability to self-initiate, organize, and problem solve tasks.
- Must be able to manage multiple assigned tasks at one time and meet assigned deadlines.
- Must have basic computer knowledge and must be comfortable using web-based case note, medication administration, time clock and employee portal systems.
- Must be or become CPR, First Aid and SCIP-R certified.
- Holding and maintaining a valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Maintaining an approved driving record according to Agency Policy and Procedure.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to stay awake and alert while on duty.
- Other physical requirements of the position may include: seeing, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, driving, stooping, bending, carrying, stretching, and climbing stairs as well as all movements required by SCIP-R curriculum.
